Katherine Symonds-Moore

Since graduating in 2000 with an English degree from Warwick University, Katherine has made a career in helping major multinationals improve and communicate their sustainability performance.

She began her career as a marketeer for HarperCollins Publishers, planning and delivering marketing campaigns for leading literary authors. She then moved to the Future Foundation to head up their client services team and deepen her understanding of consumer trends.

In 2006, Katherine was hired by Tesco Plc to support the launch of their Community Plan – their first full scale corporate responsibility strategy. In this role, she contributed to reducing annual UK carrier bag use by 3 billion, putting carbon labels on products and launching a low-carbon blueprint for all new Tesco stores.

Following that, Katherine led Coca-Cola’s efforts to deliver its sponsorship of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games sustainably. This three-year project involved: devising a carbon footprint reduction and compensation strategy; using the power of the Coca-Cola brand to inspire behaviour change on recycling; and working with charity partner, StreetGames, to get more young people active.

Since 2013, Katherine has been an independent sustainability consultant specialising in environmental, ethical and community issues. She has worked with the corporate responsibility consultancy Sancroft and, in 2018, helped to co-found Brodie Partners Ltd, a responsible business consultancy. She has worked with a wide range of clients from diverse sectors including Nestlé, Samsonite, Associated British Foods and Bristol City Council.
